Results of the Battle of Yorktown
When Cornwallis surrendered, the colonists won the battle. The British realized they were loosing the whole war after the Battle of Yorktown. Throughout the battle they lost lots of ammunition, supplies, food, and most importantly soldiers. After a couple small battles, that showed no hope for the British, they arranged for the end of the war. This was made with the Treaty of Paris. The Treaty of Paris stated that the United States was to be an independent nation. It also established the boundaries of United States. It allowed prisoners of war to be freed on both sides. It also gave access to Great Britain and United States to the Mississippi River. This when into effect within 6 months. The colonists were now free.
