Causes of the Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown was a battle in the Revolutionary War, so its causes are the same. The Revolutionary War was caused by all the events right before it started. These events include the placement of acts. The acts put taxes on everyday items such as paper and tea. In result the colonists got very mad. The Boston tea party, also contributed to the Revolutionary War. This is when a violent group of men called the Sons of Liberty, dressed up as Native Americans snuck onto docked British boats filled with tea, and dumped thousands of dollars of tea into the ocean. The Boston Massacre also contributed to the war because this was taken into a form of propaganda which got colonists riled up that the British just shot at innocent colonists. Another contributor was a "newspaper" (in the sense) called common sense. This was a entry about how that the colonists should breakaway from Britain. This got the colonists to be like "Yeah let's breakaway!"The colonists tried lots of ways to make peace with the British, but the British would not agree. For example they made the Olive Branch Petition. This was a peace letter to Britain. But the King didn't back down he wanted his way. Finally the Continental Congress created the Decleration of Independence which stated that the King was a bad person to be the leader, and it sowed the world that the colonists could be there own country, and stand on their on without being tied to the King. It said that everyone has unalienable rights which means that means the rights that any person has the minute they are born. It says that the King should protect life, liberty and happiness. The colonists were not happy with the king, so they started to fight. This was the beginning of the Revolutionary War. Some battles were, the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the Battle of Breeds and Bunker Hill, Battle of New York, Battle of Ticonderoga, Battle of Saratoga, and finally the last major battle of the Revolutionary War was the Battle of Yorktown.
